Dr Elmes is highly qualified in the field of urology having completed extensive surgical training.

 

TRAINING

After completing his Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of surgery having attained Dean’s honours and Dux of physiology & Biochemistry, Gold Coast Urologist Dr Elmes, completed his general surgical training at the Alfred, Austin and Western hospitals in Melbourne.

 

His urology interests began in 2001 with residency and assisting surgically at a multitude of operations.  He furthered his urological training with a Doctorate of Medicine investigating Prostate Cancer immunology and presenting multiple clinical papers at state and international levels.

 

Martin completed his advanced urological surgery training in NSW, having passed his fellowship exams with distinction.

INTERESTS & EXPERTISE

After attaining his FRACS (Urol) Dr Elmes spent a further year refining sub speciality techniques at the largest urological training hospital in Sydney.  He was invited to complete a complex kidney stone surgery & open and minimally invasive urological cancer surgery fellowship under world experts.

 

He was the first ever fellow to use the Da Vinci Si robot in the state of the art theatres at Nepean hospital - the largest Urological training hospital in NSWare still the only public sector Robotics hospital in NSW.
